Worship

All are Welcome

Everyone is welcome to join us as they are in worship at CEH.

  • Style of Worship -- Both of our Sunday Services are similar. The three exceptions are that at the 8:00am service communion is served, the 8:00am service has no defined end--folks leave when they are comfortable doing so, and at the 10:00am service the Choir sings.

Both services are liturgical in that there is congregational participation in prayers, affirming our need for God in our lives, and affirming our belief in God through Jesus Christ. We sing a mix of praise songs and traditional hymns. All our music is lead by our Band, which currently features two lead guitars, piano, and back singers.

  • Dress -- You will find most folks in comfortable clothes. Jeans are not uncommon. During the winter months some come in their ski clothes and during the summer months some come ready to go biking right after worship.

  • Length Of Service -- 8:00am worship is about 50 minutes long.  10:00am worship is about 60 to 75 minutes long.

Liturgical Support

  • Chancel Guild -- The Chancel Guild prepares the sanctuary for worship and special services including weddings and funerals.

  • Worship Leaders -- Help lead the worship on Sunday Mornings. They read scripture, lead prayers, and help facilitate the congregation's attempt to lift up the best that is inside them to God.

  • Acolytes -- Boys and Girls from 2nd grade up are welcome to participate in the Acolyte Program.

  • Music

    •
      • Choir -- The adult choir sings at the Sunday 10:00am service and practices weekly on Sundays at 9:15am.
      • Praise Band -- The praise ensemble enriches both the 8:00am and 10:00am Sunday Services. Special Services
  • Baptisms -- In the Presbyterian Church (USA) we baptize infants, children and adults. In Baptism we recognize God's claim on our lives. We have done nothing to earn that claim, yet that claim is a made by God upon us all. This sacrament is an affirmation that God has claimed us.

Therefore the service is done as a part of the Sunday Worship services, so that the one being baptized may on his/her own behalf (or the parent's on behalf of their children) proclaim their acknowledgment of God's claim. The congregation in turn stands up and affirms this claim while making individual and collective commitments to walk alongside the newly baptized.  A small quilt, signed by everyone at the service, is given to the newly baptized child

  • Weddings -- Are officiated upon request by our minister as schedule permits.  If we are unable to officiate a marriage we will provide contact information for other alternatives.

  • Burial Services

  • Memorial Garden

  • Visits & Communion in the Home or Hospital
